As a former geologist, the rock that makes up the earth figures prominently in my landscape work, albeit sometimes subtly. As a former pilot, I appreciate the structural scale of landforms that are subsequently affected by the differing rock types and the chemical, aeolian and hydraulic erosional forces levied upon them. I’ve always been an outdoor person, and I generally prefer the road less traveled. You will not find many of the ‘classic’ images from our national parks showcased in my work; what you will find is views of our public lands that the masses may not see. I feel that many of those places are every bit as compelling and beautiful, while offering the solitude that many seek away from campgrounds and crowds.
