After spending so much time in the desert this spring, it was finally time to head upward, and the San Juans are always my mountain range of choice. A quick stop in Ridgway with dynamic clouds led me to shoot a TerraLapse sequence from the Last Dollar Ranch, overlooking the Sneffels Range and Dallas Divide. One beautiful spot in this state–in this country; I’d love to live there someday.
Tonight I had the pleasure of hanging the hammock off some adequate support: trees! Again spending the night dispersed-camping a hundred meters off of a main highway, a quarter-mile uphill walk to tonight’s office around 10,600′ MSL. This time I had a few cars to ‘show the way’, and I didn’t have to take a drive in the middle of a sequence.
